Why did i have a day of school

Wednesday the 29th of May was the teachers strike day i read that teachers go on strike to get a payment rise so they have more money to help supply all of the stationary that the kids need. 

I also read that the times that they are working are to help kids get the education that they need. Most kids don't know how hard the teachers work to help us as kids 

I think the teachers should have a day off so they have a day with there own family .

" Welcome to the revolution tour " said Ben today was the day Revolution Tour was at our school.

They were here to talk to us about making a change and saying we are the change and the next future in life. I think everyone knew what he was talking about.

Later he Ben started talking to us about his friend Nathan and how he liked going to school because he had a friend that he trusted.

lastly he talked about two guys that were in hospital one of them was dying and the other was blind. but everyday he would ask what was going on outside the guy would make up something. But a couple of weeks later his friend passes away and he asks the doctor said nothings going on outside there is just a building right next to the window. Since that day he knew what his friend sacrificed for him.

The SS Otaki commemoration

On Monday the 11th of March 2019 at Otaki College

we had the SS Otaki commemoration. At the start of the commemoration we had a karanga Lead by Ms Suega Frost and Whaea Maharata.

Speeches for the people that had passed and details of the SS Otaki were made. Also information on why we celebrate it.

They then handed the wreathes to the those who came to celebrate and who hung them on the stands.

Lastly we had a prayer to thank the people who fought in the war. The band then celebrated with a song.      

What I enjoyed the most about the ceremony was the bands moving music during the raising and lowering of the flag.

One thing i learnt at the ceremony was that the SS Otaki

Wasn't based in New Zealand.
